Bookkeeping Complexity Assessment Tool

90

discussions evidencing this problem

A structured questionnaire that captures business structure, transaction volume, and current bookkeeping state to accurately scope complexity and justify professional fees independent of client estimates.

Straight from Reddit

No bookkeeping- at least consistently... very sporadically done

without good tracking you can't even figure out what necessarily is going wrong

never trust a client when they say it should only take x hours a month. Either they don't know what they are talking about or they are doing it themselves now but only doing half the job

The day you can see a dip 6 weeks out is the day you stop living hand-to-mouth

the work is hard, but everyone else wants it to be easy, so they tell themselves it's easy

even as they suffer from under-investing in previous inadequate accounting, they complain that is is a "non-revenue cost center"

My previous bookkeeper ghosted me

Anytime she has said she would call me back, she has not called back.

I am new owner of a CPA firm, who is looking to advertise bookkeeping more as a service. How much would you charge a client

This post shows the thin line between an accountant and a bookkeeper. The bookkeeper should know and understand sales tax. Know how to record it and ideally some local laws/familiarity regarding sales tax.

It could help you work out:

  • Complexity score
  • Time and effort estimate
  • Key risk areas identified
  • Fee justification report

Based on business structure details, monthly transaction volume, current bookkeeping state and gaps, number of bank accounts and entities.
